Why we support Barack Obama
We support Barack Obama because he will bring the change America needs and strengthen its partnership with Europe. On issues ranging from foreign policy to the environment to the economy, Obama has the right solutions to the problems of the 21st century. For Barack Obama, change is more than just a word. It’s a promise. As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Obama has tackled such challenges as the spread of weapons of mass destruction and the genocide in Darfur.
Obama believes in a strong partnership between the United States and the European Union and opposes a policy that tries to divide Europe into “old and new”. Rather than splitting the world into those “who are with or against us”, Obama reaches out to America’s allies to work together on the challenges that lie ahead, to jointly confront common threats, and to enhance common security.
Barack Obama is not yet the President of the United States, but he has already changed America’s image in the world. He has become a symbol of the renewal of America’s promise and dedication to freedom and democracy throughout the world. This is the America that stood by Europe in its darkest hours and helped unite the continent after a war that left much of Europe in ruins.
The United States of America and the European Union share such values as the rule of law, freedom, and democracy. Though we might not always agree about the solutions, our goals are the same. With Barack Obama as the President of the United States we can open a new era of cooperation and trust. Now is the time to renew the partnership between America and Europe and work together on the challenges that lie before us.
